A new local subscription service aims to bring handcrafted, eco-friendly health and beauty products to your doorstep each month. Crystal Lopez-Siltman and Amy Shay, co-founders of Sun and Moon Collective, are lifelong makers and artists who have long invested in their own self-care.
“We have always been Earth-conscious and learned early that it was not only easier, but cheaper, to create our own health and beauty products,” Crystal explains. “Throughout the years, we have both received a lot of positive feedback about our goods. With COVID-19 taking its toll on everyone’s ‘old normal,’ we decided this was our time to take it to the next level.”
Each month’s box is based on a theme. “For example, one of the future boxes we are developing will have a sensory theme, which is near and dear to both of our hearts,” Amy says. “My son is on the autism spectrum, and Crystal has spent many years working with children who have autism.”
The two are very intentional about the ingredients they use to create their products. “We use all-natural, mostly organic, locally sourced and grown materials,” Crystal notes. “We grow and nurture many of the plants and herbs in our own gardens/yards. We have a hand in everything we create, down to our artwork.” They also aim to keep the boxes affordable. “We don’t want to exclude anyone from our high-quality creations, so we are committed to offering products outside of a subscription as well.”
For residents of Peoria, Tazewell or McLean counties, they are currently offering free, no-contact drop-offs.Supplies are limited, but those who are interested in subscribing can visit sunandmooncollective.myshopify.com, email sunandmooncollective79@gmail.com, or find them on Facebook or Instagram @sunandmoon_coll.
