Irma Ali Khan is a senior parts and service marketing consultant in Caterpillar’s Global On-Highway Truck Division, with accountability for $12 million in truck parts. She is responsible for developing and executing parts and service marketing strategies for the new Cat Vocational Truck, as well as related Cat dealer training for parts processes, and provides advisory support to the Aftermarket Truck Parts team, a new business she helped launch at Caterpillar.

Khan led the launch of the Powertrain Precious Metals Program, creating the first of its type in the truck industry, and the Cat Vocational Maintenance Plan, serving as the 6 Sigma Black Belt leading a project to improve the results of its adoption. Active in the Society of Women Engineers – Central Illinois Section (SWE-CI), she led investigative efforts on local advocacy needs affecting engineering, women, diversity and STEM issues, becoming chair of the newly-formed Ad-Hoc Advocacy Committee. She established the Upward Mentoring program at Caterpillar, engaging key executives as advocates for these critical issues, and was elected SWE-CI section representative.

In addition, Khan shares her passion for engineering as a volunteer with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers’ Engineer in the Classroom Program, engaging with local schoolchildren to design, build and demonstrate a Rube Goldberg machine. She has served on the City of Peoria’s Fair Employment and Housing Commission since 2013, creating educational presentations on discriminatory treatment, as well as an updated commission strategy. She has volunteered with the Heart of Illinois United Way through GENeration United, graduating from its BoardSERVE Workshop in 2013, and in various capacities with the Islamic Foundation of Peoria. She is a 2012 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School and recipient of the 2014 Here to Work Award in Caterpillar’s Global On-Highway Truck Division.

In her free time, Khan enjoys playing chess, hiking, yoga and watching movies. She is a devoted daughter and aunt to two nephews. iBi
