Joseph Cecil

As a vice president and private client manager at Busey Wealth Management, Joseph Cecil leads the private client division in the Peoria/Pekin region and serves as a liaison between Wealth Management and Busey’s other four lines of business. He ensures that products and services maximize clients’ financial needs and objectives, resolves complaints to ensure their satisfaction, and works to develop new relationships by building networks in the community.

Cecil’s ability to get deals done and develop strong relationships have allowed him to advance quickly in his career. After entering the finance world as a credit manager, he was quickly promoted to senior credit manager before earning his series 6 and 65 licenses and becoming a licensed banker. He received the Top New Banker Award at a national training course and earned two Market All-Star awards for finishing number-one in his market, before stepping up to become a Series 7 and 66 licensed broker.

A longtime supporter of the Heart of Illinois United Way, Cecil led a team of nine volunteers for four years to assist the Success By 6 early childhood education initiative—sorting and delivering books to sites around Peoria and creating materials for teachers in early math and reading education. He has continued this support at Busey, spearheading his region’s United Way campaign for the past two years and organizing an employee and family bags tournament to raise funds for the cause.

As a volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program, Cecil provides rides for cancer patients who need treatment but have complications getting to their appointments. He also serves as board treasurer for the Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois and has been active in his neighborhood, serving as the president of his homeowner’s association from 2016 to 2018.
