UnityPoint Clinic – Express will provide faster care in a remodeled convenient location.

UnityPoint Health is excited to unveil a new kind of walk-in care clinic, offering people in central Illinois an easier and more convenient option for them and their families. Opening in May, the first of three UnityPoint Clinic – Express locations will focus on a revamped time-saving process designed to enhance the walk-in care experience for the community.

The difference is the experience and convenience for the people we care for. The Express model of care includes a concierge service featuring a specially-trained clinical care attendant who will greet each person as he or she enters the clinic and remain with them throughout the visit. Clinical care attendants will be trained to help with everything from registration, health checks and symptom assessment to laboratory and x-ray services, which are featured on-site. A nurse practitioner or physician then works with the patient for diagnosis and treatment. This process bypasses the time spent transferring care from one professional to another, allowing people to get back to their busy lives more quickly.

The availability of on-site prescription medications will provide another convenience, eliminating an extra stop at the pharmacy, while the community will be able to reserve their spot online, shortening the amount of time spent waiting at the clinic. The experience will also include personal and thoughtful amenities like complimentary ice packs, warm blankets, hot tea and complimentary wi-fi internet service. Think of it as the cure for the common waiting room.

While providing faster care in a remodeled convenient location, UnityPoint Clinic – Express remains dedicated to offering high-quality healthcare to the community. “People and families are busier than ever these days, which makes it more challenging for them to find time to get the healthcare they need,” says Dr. Keith Knepp, UnityPoint Health – Central Illinois President and CEO. “We want to offer another option to meet their needs and help every person get the care they need to feel better and get back to their lives.”

In addition to treating non-emergency conditions like colds, flu, sore throats and minor sports injuries, Express will offer additional services including school/sports physicals and flu shots. Beginning May 6th, Express will be open 8am to 8pm every day of the year, including holidays, at 8914 N. Knoxville Avenue in Peoria. The other locations will be announced soon.
