EDC: A Silent Partner in Central Illinois
The EDC is often the quiet partner that makes things happen in central Illinois. While we don’t always take credit for development announcements in the area, we are there—getting the job done.
Recently, this has resulted in the announcement of several major economic movements in the central Illinois area.
Peoria County welcomed the announcement of Famer Industry’s purchase of manufacturing space earlier this Spring. The expansion will bring an initial investment of $500,000, and up to 20 jobs to the Peoria community.
Peoria County Development Director Steve Balistreri helped promote the benefits of placing this, the French firm’s first U.S. venture, in the Peoria community.
Tazewell County celebrated the purchase of the Pekin spec building by ElecSys, a wiring systems company.
The Heartland Community Development Corporation, an affiliate of EDC, was a key investor in the construction of the spec building, which was meant to attract new businesses to Pekin. Along with the city of Pekin, Greg Truninger, Tazewell County development director, was a guiding element in the success of the spec building.
Woodford County has also seen economic advancements recently. Previously, the EDC has helped Metamora Community Nursing Home (Snyder Village) obtain expansion financing in the form of government development grants.
With the help of Sally Hanley, Woodford County development director, Snyder Village applied for another $200,000 Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) economic development grant to complete a 41-unit assisted living facility on the northern edge of the Synder Village complex.
The announcements don’t end there. The EDC helped bring assistance dollars totaling $132,260,395 to the three counties to use for the financing of business, infrastructure, and workforce training.
These accomplishments and presentation of the 2001 Business Achievement Awards—will be highlighted at the EDC’s Annual Business Meeting at the Knights of Columbus hall, at 4 p.m., June 26, in Morton.
