Matthew J. McMillin, MD

Dr. Matthew McMillin is a family medicine physician with Methodist Medical Group (MMG). He serves as chairman of the organization’s operating committee and is a member of the board of directors for Methodist Medical Center.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. McMillin spearheaded the reorganization of the network of primary care and specialty physicians. With the help of his leadership, MMG continues to meet Joint Commission standards of care and has grown to include more than 100 healthcare providers. As chairman of the operating committee for MMG, he helps his fellow providers deliver outstanding healthcare while providing the highest-quality care to his own patients.

As co-founder and medical director of Optimum Health Solutions, Dr. McMillin leads the corporate wellness company in its mission to enhance the performance of any given company’s greatest asset, their employees, through assessment, education, intervention, exercise and nutrition. Dr. McMillin and the Optimum Health Solutions team visit worksites to introduce comprehensive wellness programs to employees. Under his leadership, the company continues to transform the culture of central Illinois companies to focus on disease prevention and life-long wellness.

Dr. McMillin has volunteered his time to raise funds for the St. Jude Telethon to provide treatment for children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. He is a member of the United Way’s Pillar Society and a regular contributor to the Methodist Medical Center Foundation.

In 2008, McMillin was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a recipient of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Resident Teaching Award, a member of the Quality Quest for Health Lifestyles Task Force and was the keynote speaker for the Employers’ Association Benefits Boot Camp.

Dr. McMillin has devoted innumerable hours to his leadership roles within Methodist Medical Group, channeling his enthusiasm and energy to continual development of the multi-specialty group. He has been a leader in developing the services provided through MMG, including growth of the cardiovascular program and the development of an integrative medicine component. Under his dynamic leadership, the Methodist Medical Group has grown in both membership and number of practice locations for services that are provided to the Tri-County Area.

Dr. McMillin is a clinical assistant professor in the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria’s Department of Family and Community Medicine, and holds the same position at the Southern Illinois University College of Medicine. iBi
