Andrea Dean is assistant vice president of claims at RLI Corporation. She leads the administration of the claims department, with more than 40 employees.
Dean demonstrates the attributes of a leader and mentor on a daily basis. She has been instrumental in mentoring new college graduates in their careers, as well as retraining experienced professionals to handle new types of job duties and claims. She leads by example and fosters the same desires for excellence in her coworkers as she requires of herself.
Active in the community, Dean serves as a volunteer builder with Habitat for Humanity, a Salvation Army bell ringer, an American Red Cross blood donor, a Family House board member, a food drive organizer for Peoria Area Food Bank, a contributor to the Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure and a volunteer with the St. Patrick Society of Peoria.
She also supports and contributes to many other organizations, including the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, the Peoria Symphony and Peoria Symphony Guild, Heart of Illinois United Way, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Peoria Walk for MS, South Side Mission and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Dean has completed the leadership development program through RLI and received her certificate for associate in claims through the Insurance Institute of America. She is currently working on her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation. Dean is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois.
The recipient of four American Jurisprudence Awards, Dean was nominated for Employee of the Quarter at RLI and named to the company’s semi-annual task team for the implementation of a new system to manage the workflow of insurance claims. She has collaborated with Dr. Chuck Stoner of Bradley University for a claim-focused seminar and co-presented at an annual claims conference and insurance services expo on the topic of “Casualty Case Law Updates.” Andrea Dean is respected because she lives what she teaches and always has a “can-do” attitude. iBi
