The Greater Peoria Regional Airport is celebrating 2007 with new service to Tampa/St. Petersburg via Allegiant Air and expanded service to Dallas/Ft. Worth on American Eagle. The new year is looking good for the Greater Peoria Regional Airport. Allegiant started the new non-stop service to sunny Tampa/St. Petersburg in late 2006 and is off flying high in early 2007. The flights have done so well, Allegiant has added a third weekly flight. They now operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The Airport Authority continues to work every day with our architectural firm to finalize our future plans for the new and expanded terminal building. We promise to deliver a facility that will provide for current and future demand and set the stage for a continued bright economic future for the Peoria area.
Recently, through its neighboring partners—the Village of Bartonville and the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission—the Airport Authority was awarded an Illinois Tomorrow Grant. The grant will enable the Greater Peoria Airport Authority to conduct an assessment study to analyze and research cargo shipments and potential business for the Greater Peoria Regional Airport. Together with the study and a strategic plan, we will be able to identify new business and create more opportunities for expanded cargo shipments.
