Thank You For Flying Peoria: 3rd Annual Wellness Day
As our way of saying "thank you" and "happy holidays" to our passengers, employees, tenants, and local communities, the Greater Peoria Regional Airport will host its 3rd Annual Wellness Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 14. Our participants will offer a lot of different medical and wellness tests, screenings, and activities for this year's event.
Again this year, we're pleased to have so many participants. Methodist Medical Center, OSF, and Proctor Hospital are providing health services including cholesterol checks; diabetes/glucose checks; a stroke risk assessment, which includes a blood pressure check; a PSA blood test to detect the possibility of prostate cancer; and a pulmonary lung function test, which helps detect emphysema, asthma, or other pulmonary problems.
Also participating is the Heyde Eye Center, which will conduct vision screenings, glaucoma screenings, cataract screenings, and even minor eyeglass adjustments. Advanced Medical Transport will demonstrate the use of a defibrillator. Bartonville Fitness & Wellness Center will do body fat testing. The University of Illinois Peoria Extension will give nutrition education and screen body composition. The Peoria Health Department will teach about alcohol, drug, and tobacco awareness. The Women's Health Center will do bone density screenings. Also, Kramer Chiropractic will provide chair massages.
We'd also like to acknowledge some of our media partners, who helped get the word out to the Greater Peoria region: WEEK-TV and JMP Media, including radio stations WSWT, WPBG, and WMBD, and InterBusiness Issues.
There are costs associated with some of the screenings, but most are free. Some tests do require preparation, as in the diabetes/glucose test, which requires fasting for two to eight hours prior to the test.
As part of our "celebration of health awareness," the airport will pay for the cost of one test or screening that has an associated fee for any passenger with proof of purchase of an airline ticket to show they've flown-or will fly-Peoria in the month of December. This is a simple way to thank you, our customers, and promote wellness in our community.
Wellness Day is open to the public. We encourage you to stop by and be well for the holiday season. IBI
