An associate attorney in his fourth year at Hasselberg Grebe Snodgrass Urban & Wentworth, Kyle M. Tompkins handles a full case load of complex estate and trust planning, real estate transactions, general corporate matters, municipal law, agricultural issues and civil litigation. He is involved in the broader agriculture industry as part of his practice, participating in the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois’ Developing Professionals program, and has been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer in multiple categories by Leading Lawyers, a recognition earned by fewer than two percent of all lawyers licensed in Illinois.
Active with the Peoria County Bar Association, Tompkins serves on the Young Lawyers Committee (YLC), Real Property Committee, and Fitness Health & Wellness Committee, which he chaired for two years. He currently chairs the YLC’s Project Santa Committee, an annual fundraiser that solicits donations of toys for South Side Mission, and was asked to serve on the Nominating Committee. He has also served as chair of the Community Outreach Committee, organizing a suit drive for Dream Center Peoria, and as co-chair of the Law Day sub-committee, coordinating activities with local schools.
In 2018, Tompkins joined The Salvation Army’s Estate Advisory Council, working to address issues that have arisen from recent tax reforms and promoting its fundraising efforts. He participated in a “canteen run” with fellow EAC members, preparing and delivering meals to the homeless population of downtown Peoria, and he also serves on a committee for the Children’s Home Association of Illinois, assisting the organization in fund development.
Active with the Young Professionals of Greater Peoria (YPGP), Tompkins has sat on the Executive Board and chaired the Murray Baker Cultural Committee, educating members about Peoria’s rich history and working with the Peoria Historical Society to organize a bus tour highlighting its various aspects. He helped organize the first YPGP Day at the Peoria Zoo and is a past graduate of YPGP’s Leaders Emerging to Advance Peoria (LEAP) program and the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School. iBi
