Joe Adams is an engineering manager in Farnsworth Group’s Peoria Transportation Section, working on projects that include rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance work for urban and rural intersections, streets and highways. With 15 years of experience in civil and transportation engineering, his responsibilities include client, agency, public and utility coordination; report and study development; final plan, specification and estimate preparation; and construction engineering responsibilities. He is first and foremost a champion for his clients, helping them navigate the complex world of project development.
As a transportation engineering manager, Adams has designed and managed projects ranging from several thousands of dollars to multi-million dollar roadways. His accomplishments are evident throughout central Illinois, including improvements to the Peoria Warehouse District and downtown Washington Street, the Orange Prairie Road extension to support residential growth on Peoria’s north side, the Sheridan Triangle Roadway project and business district enhancement, and the Glen Oak School impact zone street improvements.
Adams is a regular participant in the Junior Achievement program, teaching third graders in Peoria Public Schools. He is a member of the Washington, Illinois Rotary Club, volunteer for the Heart of Illinois United Way and Discipleship Team Leader at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. In addition, he has organized and participated in numerous
fundraising events to benefit Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital of Illinois, United Way, Easterseals, St. Jude, The Center for Prevention of Abuse and Heart of Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters. In his spare time, he is a mentor and coach for multiple youth activities, including robotics, baseball and soccer.
A registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Illinois, Adams is LEED-AP-accredited and has also earned the prestigious Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was named Engineer of the Year by the Central Illinois Chapter in 2015.
