Airport Issues

Wellness Day--Thank You for Flying Peoria
As our way of saying "thank you" and "happy holidays" to our passengers, employees, tenants, and local communities, Greater Peoria Regional Airport hosts its 2nd Annual Wellness Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 16. Our participants are offering a lot of different medical and wellness tests/screenings and activities for the event.

We have so many participants this year. Methodist Medical Center, OSF, and Proctor Hospital are providing important services such as cholesterol checks; diabetes/glucose checks; stroke risk assessments including blood pressure checks; PSA blood tests to detect the possibility of prostate cancer; and pulmonary lung function tests to help detect emphysema, asthma, or other pulmonary problems. Heyde Eye Center will perform vision screening, glaucoma screening, cataract screen, and even minor eye glass adjustments; Advanced Medical Transport will show us how to use a defibrillator; Bartonville Fitness & Wellness Center will do body fat testing; U of I Peoria Extension will give us nutrition education and screening our body composition; Peoria Health Department will teach about alcohol, drug, and tobacco awareness; Women’s Health Center will do bone density screening; and we’ll even have Kramer Chiropractic giving chair massages.

We would also like to acknowledge some of our media partners: WEEK-TV and JMP Media have all seen how important Wellness Day is to our citizens.

There are costs associated with some of the screenings, but many are free. Some tests require preparation, such as the diabetes/glucose test, which requires fasting for two to eight hours prior to the test.

As part of our "celebration of health awareness," the airport will pay for the cost of one test or screening of your choice for any passenger with proof of purchase of an airline ticket to show they’ve flown, or will fly, Peoria in the month of December. This is a simple way to thank you, our customer, and promote wellness in our community.

Wellness Day is open to the public. There’s a complete list of tests and screenings available on our Web site. Some of these services require appointments and preparation. We encourage you to stop by and have a test or two done. IBI
