May 4-5 America's Favorite Songs, Hymns and Anthems
Peoria Area Civic Chorale | Five Points Performing Arts Center – Washington
The Peoria Area Civic Chorale’s 36th season will conclude with an inspirational program dedicated to America’s favorite songs, hymns and anthems at 7:30pm. Accomplished classical tenor soloist, jazz trumpeter and Peoria native Michael Jones will be featured as the special guest artist. Friday’s concert will also include a 75-voice fourth-grade Festival Chorus comprised of students from area schools, while Saturday attendees are invited to attend the post-concert Barth Dowling Honorary Reception sponsored by Lexus of Peoria. The Lewy Body Dementia Association is the charity partner for the concert, in honor of the Chorale’s founding Artistic Director Barth Downing. May 10 Edgar Miller: Chicago's Forgotten Renaissance Man

The final lecture of the Fine Arts Society’s 2017-2018 season will explore the rich history of Chicago artist J. Edgar Miller (1899-1993) and his significant body of work. Miller was a designer, painter, craftsman, master woodcarver and one of the nation’s foremost stained-glass designers. He could sculpt and draw haunting portraits and was considered a pioneer in the use of graphic art in advertising. Zac Bleicher, executive director of the Edgar Miller Legacy Project, will tell the compelling story of the man who was once called “the blond boy Michelangelo” and a “new luminary” by Architecture Magazine. June 22-24 Olde English Faire
Wildlife Prairie Park – Hannah City
Join in the revelry at the annual medieval faire at Wildlife Prairie Park from 9am to 5pm. Featured events include falconry, jousting, sword fighting, storytellers and archery. Shop for treasures, play in the Children’s Kingdom, taste the fine foods of the Renaissance, sip libations in Ye Olde Tavern, hear the sweet melodies of musicians and so much more! During the Day of Enlightenment on Friday, children ages seven to 12 can watch a joust and participate in educational presentations and activities from 10am to 3pm. WPP members will receive free admission on Friday and free parking throughout the event. Arrive in full costume and receive $1 off admission.
