Pekin Hospital

Looking forward to continued growth and new service offerings in the months ahead…

Since 1913, Pekin Hospital has been dedicated to providing a superior healthcare experience that earns the trust of our communities. Part of Progressive Health Systems, Pekin Hospital is a 107-bed medical center offering quality, compassionate and personal care with state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities. More than 300 physicians in 40+ medical specialties work with highly credentialed nursing staff and healthcare professionals to serve central Illinois.

The first few months of 2016 have been especially busy for Pekin Hospital, and the rest of the year will be no exception as we continue to expand our services. Here is a quick update on a few of our many community-driven initiatives:

New Medical Facility
Plans are moving forward for a new $16-million medical office building to house multiple ProHealth Medical Group providers in family practice, internal medicine and pediatrics. The approximately 62,000-square-foot medical facility will be located on the corner of Griffin Avenue and Veterans Drive. “This is an exciting project for Pekin Hospital, the City of Pekin and the entire community,” says Bob Haley, chief executive officer of Pekin Hospital and Progressive Health Systems. “The new medical facility will allow us to improve efficiency and better address the growing healthcare needs of the people we serve.”

3D Mammography
The Women’s Diagnostic Center at Pekin Hospital is now offering 3D mammography for breast cancer screenings. Also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, 3D mammography produces a series of detailed images that help radiologists better detect invasive breast cancers and reduce false positives. 3D mammography also helps to lower recall rates and eliminate unnecessary follow-up tests. Additional services at the Women’s Diagnostic Center include bone density testing to quickly diagnose osteoporosis, a private ultrasound room and a library of resources on women’s health issues.

Mobile MRI
Pekin Hospital is establishing a new mobile MRI service attached to the east side of the facility. A state-of-the-art mobile MRI unit will be located near the hospital’s 14th Street entrance. The new space is designed to revolve around the patient experience with a focus on privacy and convenience.

Progressive Health Network
Pekin Hospital and Progressive Health Systems continue to partner with local organizations to offer the Progressive Health Network for area employers and employees. The three-tiered system combines the resources of medical and insurance professionals from across the region to create a local health plan using a local network. This hometown healthcare solution is targeted to fit the specific needs of the communities we serve.

Foundation Projects
2016 will be another busy year for the Pekin Hospital Foundation. Established in 1986, the foundation works with generous donors and community partners to enhance the quality of care throughout the region. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Jewels & Jeans Gala on October 8th, the foundation’s largest fundraiser. Additional projects include supporting the annual Dash at Dusk 5K and Kids’ Fun Run and the Pekin Hospital Mission Team. Last year, the Mission Team treated 1,250 underserved adults and children in the Philippines; this year’s trip will take our doctors, nurses, employees and volunteers to the Dominican Republic.
