As Tazewell County Administrator, Wendy Ferrill oversees daily operations involving public safety, tax collection, transportation and a range of other functions for the state’s 14th largest county. With 11 direct reports, she manages the budget and the county board offices, and serves as a mentor to other employees. With a history of success and personal interaction at every level, she has built a reputation for leadership, professionalism and relationship building throughout Tazewell County and the region.
Among her recent accomplishments, Ferrill identified and corrected compliance issues under the Affordable Care Act, handled negotiations for three union contracts, and reviewed workers’ compensation claims to reduce overall costs. In addition, she established the county’s first Finance Director position, interviewing and ultimately hiring the final candidate, and oversaw the county’s transition to a new third-party administrator to reduce redundancy and lower healthcare costs.
Outside of the office, Ferrill is an active leader throughout Tazewell County. As board vice president for the Rotary Club of Morton, she is in rotation to become its president. She sits on the board for the YWCA in Pekin and serves as secretary for the We Care Board of Directors, putting her business and financial acumen and deep knowledge of county needs to work. She also serves on the Pekin Federal Prison Advisory Board, working to cultivating communication between the local community and the federal institution. A member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association and the Illinois City/County Management Association, she has been a valuable resource for her fellow administrators.
A long-time resi- dent of central Illinois, Ferrill earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Bradley University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and running, spending time with her husband and two children, and staying active through RPM and Body Pump classes at Gold’s Gym in Morton. iBi
