As Technology Marketing Consultant at Caterpillar Inc., Dan Adler has spent 10 years leading and working on a host of projects related to safety and sustainability. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt with a history of leading initiatives to success, coaching less experienced team members, and facilitating teamwork and cooperation among his fellow engineers. He can always be counted on to lead by example, deliver on his commitments and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
As the leader of a cross-functional project for advancing safety technologies, Adler worked to create an achievable vision, secure sponsorship and funding, and keep the project on track. His efforts resulted in the introduction of a new product this year: the Cat Detect for Personnel solution, which uses RFID technology to detect when workers are in dangerous construction zones and send alerts in order to avoid injuries or fatalities.
Outside of Caterpillar, Adler currently serves as vice president of the Peoria Public Schools Board of Education—elected after just one year of board service. In this role, he has worked to increase community engagement, drive budgetary improvements and expand funding opportunities, in addition to championing the Reading Buddies program. He is also president of the Parent Teacher Organization at Kellar Primary School, where he spearheaded the formation of a community garden, building a coalition of donors and organizations to contribute materials, funding and man-hours. He and his wife then started a garden-themed afterschool program to connect students with this “living laboratory.”
In addition, Adler is a member of Peoria Rotary North, a commissioner for the City of Peoria Transportation Commission, a volunteer for Junior Achievement and a youth soccer coach for the Peoria Park District. A former Eagle Scout, he also serves as project leader and quartermaster for Boy Scouts Troop #380. Both inside and outside of the workplace, Adler has exemplified passionate leadership, working hard to make positive change a reality at Caterpillar and within the surrounding community. iBi
