As an attorney and partner in Husch Blackwell’s Corporate Department, Tyler Petersen has served as corporate counsel to many local businesses and municipalities and represented clients in multimillion-dollar transactions. His high-quality legal work and ability to develop trust led management to promote him to partner in less than two years with the firm. He is a mentor to associates and paralegals, and serves as chairperson of the Peoria office’s hiring and opinion committees.
Petersen has served as president of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Peoria County Bar Association, and was a member of its Nominating Committee. He currently organizes his employer’s participation in the association’s annual gift giving program. He has been a speaker at a variety of seminars, authored professional legal publications, and was a guest lecturer at Bradley University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement.
In addition to leadership in his profession, Petersen is a board member of the Morton Chamber of Commerce and serves on its Finance and Golf Outing committees. He has also served as an ambassador for the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, working to improve the local business climate.
Recognizing the importance of education and the critical role that Illinois Central College plays in the local economy, Petersen is an active board member of the ICC Educational Foundation, head of the school’s Planned Giving Committee, and a member of the Scholarship Committee.
He also volunteers his time and skills as a trustee of the Morton Community Foundation, serving on the organization’s Grant and National Standards committees. He is an active member of the Morton Rotary Club and volunteers in numerous Rotary projects, including the maintenance of Rotary Field and selling tickets at the Morton Pumpkin Festival. He also served on the University of Illinois College of Law's Recent Alumni
