As the director of member services for the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Sarah Stabler coordinates special events for the organization—work that requires a great deal of planning, organization and attention to detail.
She is responsible for coordinating the State of the City Address, Community Thanksgiving Luncheon, Business Showcase, State of the Schools, and The Heartland Partnership Annual Meeting, among other events. She also manages monthly Business After Hours meetings, recruiting sponsors and assisting host companies. Her expertise is in knowing what it takes to put on a great event, starting with the big picture and working down to each detail.
When the Chamber brought the Young Professionals of Greater Peoria into its organization, Stabler took on the task of organizing the group. Prior to her guidance, YPGP had been a loosely connected group of young people who attended monthly socials. It has since grown to more than 500 members, and now offers leadership training, health and fitness activities, and social and volunteer opportunities. She works to ensure that YPGP continues to grow and achieve its organizational goals.
In addition to her work at the Chamber, Stabler is an instrumental volunteer in the community. As a member of the American Cancer Society’s Night of Hope Committee, she chaired last year’s silent auction, securing many of the donated items and packages. In 2012, she is co-chairing the committee as a whole.
Stabler also serves on the event planning committee for Proctor Health Care Foundation’s “Laughter is the Best Medicine” event, which honors members of the Foundation’s 1882 Society and presents the Henry Allovio, Jr. Leadership Award.
Stabler is a Eucharistic minister at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and performs administrative work for the Peoria Park District’s Golf Division. She is a 2010 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School, a 2007 graduate of YPGP’s LEAP leadership academy, and a regular guest speaker for classes at Bradley University and Illinois Central College. iBi
