Robert Zinser is a senior environmental technician for Peoria Disposal Company’s Technical Services Group. In this position, he maintains multiple landfill gas and groundwater well systems and ensures EPA compliance. He keeps lines of communication open among employees at the office and in the field, and works as a liaison with outside contractors at some of PDC’s largest and most active sites. He also assists other companies within the PDC family whenever necessary.
A well-recognized leader in his hometown of Kickapoo, Zinser is co-founder and president of Kickapoo Area Community Events, successfully leading fundraising and community events in the township. He spent months working with volunteers, hosting meetings, and managing funds, vendors, activities and grants prior to hosting the three-day Kickapoo Terquasquicentennial celebration marking its 175th anniversary.
With a focus on community development, Zinser has served as co-chair for many other township events, including the Light Up the Park fundraiser, which raised money for new stadium lights at Kickapoo Ballpark. He has also raised money for local St. Jude runners and the local baseball association.
Zinser is active at St. Mary’s Parish and School in Kickapoo, serving on the Education Commission and auction committees, and coaching first and second-grade soccer. He was recently selected to serve on the marketing committee at St. Mary’s School and to co-chair the school’s 150th-year celebration.
Zinser’s personal drive for the continued success of his community is endless. As a result of his involvement in a multitude of civic events, July 2011 was declared “Rob Zinser Month” in Kickapoo.
Zinser has achieved success as a husband and father, loyal employee, strong member of his church, active volunteer, president of a nonprofit organization, and dedicated member of his community. His ability to bring people together for the greater good is part of what makes him a great leader. iBi
