Kris Coulter

Junior League of Peoria

As president-elect of the Junior League of Peoria, Kris Coulter is second in command for an organization of more than 400 area women, charged with leading in the event that the sitting president is unable to attend or fulfill any obligation. Coulter’s primary tasks revolve around serving as the resident authority for all issues of governance and parliamentary procedure.

While preparing for her year as president, Coulter is taking on the challenging task of updating the Junior League’s five-year strategic plan and setting the individual goals of each committee. She also serves as the local Junior League representative at Association of Junior Leagues’ events and community gatherings.

Coulter was committee chair of the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum project in 2008-2009. Under her leadership, the project saw significant progress toward its $5.25 million goal, a direct result of her can-do spirit and tireless dedication to the Peoria-area community.

While chairing the Peoria PlayHouse project, tough economic times produced a number of challenges, from raising money to building project awareness. She led the League in creating a new strategy team to focus on capital campaign efforts and long-term goals with fewer financial resources. She was instrumental in securing the organization as the beneficiary of the Hotel Père Marquette’s annual charitable gala—an invaluable contribution, as it secured tens of thousands of dollars and was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the project.

Since 2004, Coulter has taken on a wide range of leadership roles within the Junior League of Peoria, always striving to better the Peoria community, and has received the organization’s Julep Gem and Shining Star awards. More than 25 women have benefited from Coulter’s guidance and positive mentoring style.

Coulter previously served as director of research and strategy at Simantel, where she led research initiatives and developed and implemented strategic marketing plans for clients. She has served on the boards of the Peoria Ad Club and the local chapter of the American Heart Association, and previously chaired the Alumnae Advisory Committee of Pi Beta Phi at Bradley University. iBi
