Synergy (from the Greek syn-ergos, meaning working together) is the term used to describe a situation where different entities cooperate advantageously for a final outcome. Simply defined, it means that the whole is greater than the individual parts.
The definition of synergy is exactly what gets me most excited about the merger between our two organizations—Employers’ Association and AAIM Management Association—effective September 1, 2009. The opportunity to meld two great organizations together creates a combined organization that generates tremendous value for our employer members through improved offerings and efficiencies that focus on being member-centric. Together, we have over 200 years of being in business, serving more than 1,600 members, and are now one of the largest employers’ associations in the country. What is not changing? Our local presence in Peoria and the quality service our members have come to expect, the responsive staff they know and trust, and our commitment to delivering a return on people that exceeds the annual membership fee.
In my new role, I am honored and privileged to lead the new AAIM Employers’ Association. It is my belief that AAIM Employers’ Association is a community asset, and it is imperative that our member services help organizations achieve their business objectives through their people practices. We have been successful in using a service model that drives how we assist employers with the challenges and issues that you face. As a result, we have been able to focus our efforts on ensuring that the information and resources we provide are relevant, timely and practical.
Because of the merger, we will have the bench strength to offer additional services for members to take advantage of, such as:
- New and improved roundtables and a President’s Council
- Organizational development and performance management services
- HRDirect and other HR outsourcing services
- Enhanced training opportunities
- Talent acquisition services
- Background verification and drug-testing services
- Much, much more.
I believe that people are at the heart of every organization. In fact, people are an organization’s greatest asset and their only real competitive advantage. Today, more than ever, you can rely on us for timely, reliable and accurate information to help you handle your human capital needs. iBi
