The one-year anniversary for American Eagle’s non-stop service to Dallas Fort-worth is here, and it’s been a great year. In 11 months, more than 43,000 passengers have used this service. The Airport Authority extends its gratitude to the many of you who’ve supported this new service.
The service to Dallas Fort-Worth has seen an 80 percent growth at the airport when comparing the 2003 fourth quarter to the 2004 fourth quarter. Once again, we’ve proven good air service will work in Peoria as we continue to strive to be central Illinois’ preferred airport.
For those of you who still haven’t tried the service, here are some of the wonderful amenities of Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW). Let’s start with service. Over those same first 11 months of service, American Eagle had only 15 cancellations with more than 1,320 arrivals and departures—a 99 percent completion factor.
DFW is nearing completion of a $2.6 billion capital expansion. A major focus of the expansion was to improve the efficiency for the passengers using the terminal facilities. As a result, DFW has become very easy to navigate. DFW now has a new, bi-directional elevated airport train with fast and easy connections between the terminals. Train wait times are about two minutes, and the travel time is about five minutes with a scenic view of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. DFW ranked No. 1 for wireless Internet access by Intel’s “Most Unwired Cities” survey. Two new passenger lounges/coffee shops have opened in Terminals A and C, where you have the state-of-the-art semi-private business work stations along with a comfortable leather lounge seating area. These lounges are in addition to the 160 shops and restaurants throughout DFW.
We have a great carrier to DFW: American Eagle, which operates more than 1,600 daily flights to 140 cities and 18 countries. With American Eagle feeding into the American DFW hub, you have a great way to get to Phoenix, Denver, and the southwest and western part of the United States. And don’t forgot DFW is a great way to get to South America, the Caribbean, or to the many non-stop European flights via American Airlines or any of their oneworld partners. It’s been a great year—and you can help make year two even better. IBI
