Changes Coming For the Greater Peoria Regional Airport
The new year is a good time to reflect on what's happened in the past year and where we'll be going in the coming year. Last year, Delta Connection came out with a directive to be more competitive in central Illinois. This became the beginning of consistently competitive fares for the Greater Peoria Regional Airport. A big change for Delta Connection is coming in the not-too-distant future. Delta Connection will be offering a fourth flight to Atlanta from Peoria beginning January 30. This additional flight means more seats will be available. For the past several months, Delta has seen double digit increases in the number of passengers flying Peoria to Atlanta. What a great story in a time when our industry is still struggling.
Our parking lot has been completed. It's a great feeling to drive down the parkway and see such a nice parking lot. We've added about a third more parking spaces; there are shuttle bus shelters that are heated and lit for the convenience of our passengers, and we have a new shuttle bus. The parking lot is also much easier to navigate.
We're looking forward to the launch of our new Web site, which will be easier to navigate as well. It'll have more information about the airport, the aviation industry, and our community. We pride ourselves on having the most up-to-date information on our Web site, and the new site will be even better.
There also will be some physical changes to the airport this year. We'll be adding a Flight Information Display System (FIDS). This will be a great feature for our passengers. You can tell, just by looking at a screen, whether a flight is on time, delayed, or cancelled. We'll have several monitors located throughout the airport. You'll also have the capability to get the same information from our Web site.
We feel each person who enters our airport is our guest. From the time they enter our parking lot to the time they leave our gates, we want their experience to be as convenient, easy, and pleasant as possible.
We look to the new year with great anticipation because last year was a year of growth for the airport, thanks to our communities, employees, and everyone who's helped us succeed. IBI
