Of all the wonderful community festivals in Greater Peoria, the Morton Pumpkin Festival reigns supreme, claiming the “Best Festival” title for the second year in a row. Morton, of course, is the “Pumpkin Capital of the World,” and Tazewell County leads the nation in production, packing more than 80 percent of the world’s needs. The four-day festival draws more than 75,000 attendees each September for entertainment, rides, parades, competitions, and of course, the food: pumpkin chili, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pie… and on and on.
