With summer almost here, many area residents are longing to get outside, bask in the sunshine and hone their “green thumb.” And if they have any troubles along the way, local volunteers stand ready to help. The University of Illinois Extension recently announced its free gardening helpline—with Master Gardeners from Fulton, Mason, Peoria and Tazewell counties available to answer questions about general gardening advice, problems with a specific plant, how to deal with pests, and many other topics.

Just send your questions to uiemg-peoria@illinois.edu, along with some background about the plant or problem, any plant care practices you have been following, contact information and potentially a photo. You can also access the helpline by calling (309) 685-3140—or find more resources at extension.illinois.edu/fmpt/horticulturePM
