In conjunction with the Citywide Celebration of Women in the Arts, a new exhibition at Peoria Magazines features the artwork of Peoria-based women of color. From abstract paintings and fiber art to digital photography and Indian folk/tribal artwork, Imaging encompasses a range of mediums, styles and sociocultural themes. Curated by Trish Williams, Natalie Jackson O'Neal and Mae Gilliland Wright, the exhibit features works by Williams, O’Neal, Brenda Gentry, Hannah Offutt, Radhika Raghavendra and Adrienne Lovingood Risby.
“Imaging means the visual representation of objects,” notes Trish Williams in defining the exhibition title. “We as artists create a visual representation of objects by way of our creations.” Imaging will be on display during business hours through December 24. All work is for sale except where noted.
The public is invited to an opening reception on November 7 from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Mingle and meet the artists while viewing this incredible body of work! Wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be available. Peoria Magazines is located at 4736 N. University St. in Peoria. For more information, call (309) 683-3060. PM
