Several Bradley alums who have found success will share their stories and secrets to becoming a better leader.
If you are looking for an opportunity to be inspired and learn from top-notch leadership speakers, you will want to attend Bradley’s Leadership Summit June 13th through 15th. This three-day conference will feature proven leaders across various industries such as finance, education, government, technology and the nonprofit world. Here is just a sampling of the outstanding speakers who will participate:
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood
Ray LaHood became the first Peorian to serve in a president’s cabinet and leads an agency with more than 55,000 employees and a $70 billion budget. Before becoming secretary of transportation, LaHood served for 14 years in Congress, where he led efforts at promoting civility and chaired the House of Representatives during proceedings on contentious issues. LaHood’s leadership was critical during the renovation of I-74 and the construction of the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Cancer Center, Heartland Community Health Clinic and many other regional projects. At the summit, Secretary LaHood will share the leadership lessons he has learned during his remarkable 30-plus years of public service.
Delta Airlines Executive Vice President/COO Stephen Gorman
Given the monumental transformations in the airline industry, few have managed such massive corporate changes as Steve Gorman. In Gorman’s session, participants will learn about major process improvement initiatives, large-scale mergers, change management, company turnarounds, and strategic growth planning.
New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority COO
Nuria White Fernandez
Nuria Fernandez provides leadership over a transportation system that carries more than 11 million passengers daily and over 800,000 vehicles on its seven toll bridges and two tunnels. In her session, titled “Leadership & Diversity: Going Global in Your Own Backyard,” Fernandez will explain how participants can strengthen their competitive edge on important issues such as ethics and workforce development.
Dr. Laurence G. Weinzimmer
Laurence Weinzimmer, co-author of The Wisdom of Failure, will talk candidly about failure in today’s business culture. Participants will walk away with the ability to recognize the most common causes of leadership failure and clear strategies for navigating toward success.
Microsoft District Manager Marietta Davis
In her session, entitled “Women in Leadership: Beyond the Glass Ceiling,” Marietta Davis will focus on the tribulations and triumphs she experienced as a woman of color in corporate America and the technology industry. Participants will be given the leadership tools necessary to overcome real-world challenges.
