Priscilla Slaughter

Peoria Symphony Orchestra

Priscilla Slaughter is director of development and patron engagement at the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, responsible for cultivating and engaging current and potential donors and implementing a comprehensive plan to meet fundraising goals. In this role, she plans and coordinates solicitations, programs, events, campaigns and other fundraising activities, and recently helped launch two successful fundraisers—the Beat Beethoven 5K and Whiskey at the Warehouse.

Active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Slaughter serves on the AFP Central Illinois Chapter Board as co-chair of the National Philanthropy Day Committee. She is a member and supporter of the Emerging Philanthropists Fund at the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, and previously served on its grant review panel.

A longtime leader with the Junior League of Peoria, Slaughter currently serves on the Sustainer Member Engagement Committee and as a member mentor, helping to introduce new members to the organization. She sat on the Governance Board of Directors for three years as both recording secretary and vice president of fundraising, and previously chaired the Nominating Committee and the JULEP’s Closet rummage sale, twice earning the Junior League’s Community Impact Award for her volunteer efforts.

Slaughter also served on the Power of Play Campaign Cabinet for seven years, raising funds for the Peoria Zoo, Rotary Adventure Grove and Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum. She was a member of the PlayHouse “Be Anything” Committee for two years and twice co-chaired Whitney’s Walk for Life 5K/run. She also serves as VP membership officer with the Sigma Alpha Iota Peoria Alumnae chapter, and has performed with the Sigma Alpha Iota music ensemble at local senior living centers and nursing homes for more than 15 years.

She is active on the vestry and multiple committees at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and helped re-establish a support group for nursing moms at the OSF Breastfeeding Resource Center. With her strong work ethic and talent for creating relationships, she has served as an inspiration for others—always finding a way to balance her professional efforts, dedication to family, and service to her community. iBi
