Adam C. Simmons

Caterpillar Inc.

As a business manager at Caterpillar Inc., Adam Simmons supports and leads a critical global transformation project that is driving his division to a goal of $140 million in operating cash flow after capital charge (OPACC) by 2020. As chief finance transformation officer, he works with a steering committee comprised of senior organization leaders to drive project results, helps lead weekly transformation meetings, and provides guidance, direction and coaching for the accountants tasked with validating benefits.

A Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Simmons leads by example in all of his roles in the workplace. Prior to his current position, he served as finance manager for the Home & Outdoor Power Business, a startup of a new product line. A Peoria native, he spent nine years away from central Illinois on multiple assignments with Caterpillar. Since returning to his hometown in 2016, he has immersed himself back into the community.

Over the past year, Simmons has served as chair and key spokesperson for the In-Kind Donations Committee of the Peoria Ronald McDonald House capital campaign. When the new facility opens, it will offer a supportive place for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care in Peoria. In addition to weekly committee and subcommittee meetings, he has worked diligently with businesses and community leaders to earn their support, coordinating in-kind donations with the construction and architect teams. As a committee spokesperson, he has represented the campaign in a range of media interviews and public events.

In addition to his work with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, Simmons is active with The DAX Foundation and a new volunteer for Junior Achievement. He has previously led drives for the American Red Cross and BeTheMatch.Org, a national marrow donor program, and has been involved with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Phi Theta Kappa and Beta Alpha Psi. iBi
