Keith E. Knepp, MD

Methodist Medical Group

As chief medical information officer for Methodist Medical Group, Dr. Keith Knepp is responsible for leading efforts to improve patient care in the ambulatory setting through the effective use of information technology. He serves as a physician representative in the IT department, ensuring that its efforts lead to improved clinical care; brings IT solutions to Methodist Medical Group physicians, making sure that providers have adequate training and education; and encourages the standardized and effective use of IT systems.

Knepp is also a faculty physician in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Methodist Medical Center, where his time is split between caring directly for patients and teaching residents in one-on-one and group settings. He has received numerous professional awards, including the Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program’s Teacher of the Year Award in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Currently president-elect of the medical staff at Methodist, Knepp is scheduled to take the role of president in January 2011. He served as treasurer of the Methodist medical staff in 2009 and president of the medical staff at Eureka Community Hospital from 2002 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2006.

Over the past three years, Knepp has aided in relief efforts in Haiti through his service on the board of Apostolic Christian World Relief. He is responsible for the group’s humanitarian efforts in both Haiti and Jamaica, and has traveled to Haiti several times to provide medical care and bring training and equipment to hospitals in need. Since 2008, Knepp has served as a team leader for medical teams travelling to Citi Lumiere Clinic in LesCayes, Haiti, and he participated in short-term medical mission trips to Juarez, Mexico in 2005 and 2006.

In efforts to build up his own community, Knepp participates in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts activities with his sons whenever possible, and is involved in church programs with his wife, Michelle, including youth and prison ministries. The couple has also been active in Woodford County’s Relay for Life.

Dr. Knepp successfully balances the demands of his profession, his community service and his family—and excels in all three areas. iBi
