Proctor Welcomes New Physician Group to the Emergency Department

The emergency physician requires a breadth of knowledge and advanced procedural skills—the skills of many specialists. Almost daily, the emergency physician will see just about every kind of disease or illness, and many will be life-threatening. They will see every age and race, hear every language, address every fear, play therapist, console every patient and family member, use every available technology, and communicate with ED staff and a host of colleagues. Tomorrow, they’ll do it all again.

While every medical specialty is unique, the emergency department may present one of the most unpredictable environments in medicine.

On July 15, 2010, the Emergency Department at Proctor Hospital welcomed its new medical team, Emergency Physicians Staffing Solutions, LLC, (EPSS), of Peoria. Principals for the group are President James R. Hubler, MD, JD, FACEP, FAAEM, FCLM; James T. Brown, MD, FACEP, FAAEM; and Troy Cutler, MD, FAAEM. Other members of the EPSS medical team include: Michael Ahearn, MD; Richard Harris, MD; Ute Prohaska, MD; and Suhail Khan, MD. EPSS physicians are American Board of Emergency Medicine certified, or Board-eligible, and trained in emergency medicine.

We are excited to have such a talented, experienced and patient-focused medical team working with us.

Proctor Hospital and EPSS physicians are committed to be trusted healthcare partners with our patients, physicians and each other. EPSS physicians treat every patient like a member of their own family. Their years of living and working in the Peoria area draws them even closer to the patients they serve. They know their patients and they share in their life experiences.

They won’t be working alone. They’ll be working alongside some of the best emergency nurses and clinical staff in the Peoria area, like the most recent addition to our ED staff, Faith Neuhauser, RN, BS, nurse manager of the Emergency Department. Neuhauser comes to Proctor from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was manager of the PromptCare Centers for Health at Glen Park, Route 91 and Morton. She brings energy, experience and an unmatched dedication to patient care.

EPSS physicians will also work alongside Proctor Hospital’s Nurse of the Year, Walt Roberts, RN, who, according to his peers, has the “highest standards of compassion and skilled care.”

The Emergency Department at Proctor Hospital provides a full spectrum of care for critically ill and injured patients in a safe, comfortable and convenient environment. We provide state-of-the-art technology within a state-of-the-art facility.

The Emergency Chest Pain Center, located within the Emergency Department will soon be expanded to meet the needs of a growing north and northwest Peoria.

I asked Dr. Hubler if there was something he was surprised to learn about Proctor that he didn’t already know. “Yes, I was pleased to find out that Proctor is served by all the same specialists you find at other area hospitals—neurology, cardiology, ENT, orthopedics, neurosurgery, urology…the list is endless,” he said. “Proctor has all of the services of a much larger tertiary hospital but within a more comfortable and intimate setting.”

The emergency physicians of EPSS and the board, executive team, physicians and staff of Proctor Hospital all share the same mission and vision. It is a shared commitment to our patients who depend on our confidence to care for them; a trust in each other that we are like family; and that as caregivers we consistently demonstrate a caring compassion.

There is a difference in emergency services at Proctor. There is a renewed passion for service. In the coming months you’ll see expanded pediatric rooms, less wait time and fewer unnecessary delays, improved patient flow, and a significant emphasis on building relationships and trust between our patients, physicians and staff.

At Proctor Hospital, we provide unmatched healthcare experiences…every day. iBi
