Keith J. Plavec
Keith J. Plavec is executive vice president of Maurer-Stutz, Inc., a consulting engineering firm that provides services in all disciplines of civil engineering and surveying. He manages the company’s Canton office and serves on the board of directors. As vice president, Plavec is involved in the daily management of engineering projects ranging from water supply designs to complex site developments. In addition to superior technical qualifications, his business insight, communication and management skills enable him to excel in the management of the company.
As manager of Maurer-Stutz’s Canton Professional Engineering and Surveying Office, Plavec regularly represents the firm at board and council meetings. He has been instrumental in leading the redevelopment of the former International Harvester plant site in Canton. In addition, he is responsible for all planning, design, permitting, plan and specification preparation, and construction observation activities relating to the Canton office. As an officer on the board of directors, he develops and maintains personnel policies and procedures in place throughout the firm.
Plavec has been active in coaching youth soccer for over 10 years, primarily with youth soccer programs at St. Vincent de Paul School and the Peoria Park District. He has been an active member of the South-West Kiwanis Club of Peoria for more than a decade, and has held several officer positions in the club, including president. He is also an active member of the Central Illinois Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
A regular speaker at local job fairs and career days, Plavec has participated in numerous high school job shadowing efforts and coordinated internships for prospective engineering students. He has worked on floats for the East Peoria Festival of Lights Parade and is a member of the USDA Rural Development Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies. Several of his projects have received Engineering Excellence Awards from the ASCE.
Plavec strives to be a good husband and father, and is a role model for all those he encounters every day, at work and in the community. By using his abilities as an engineer in his service opportunities, he is helping to make central Illinois a better place in which to live and work. iBi
