Dr. Brandon M. Bockewitz

UnityPoint Health – Peoria

Dr. Brandon M. Bockewitz, is a family medicine physician with a specialty in sports medicine at UnityPoint Health – Peoria. In addition to traditional family medicine care, he provides musculoskeletal and nonsurgical orthopedic care for a wide range of conditions.

For the past three years, Dr. Bockewitz has served as the site lead physician for his medical office, working directly with office administration to maintain effective staffing, improve patient satisfaction, develop protocols and processes to maintain high-quality metrics, and support the staff and providers.

In 2013, Dr. Bockewitz was elected to a three-year term on the Regional Provider Counsel (RPC), which serves as the governing oversight committee for the medical group. Two years later, he was elected by RPC membership to a two-year term as secretary on the executive RPC. Through this involvement, Dr. Bockewitz has helped guide and develop the governing policies, principles and future direction of the medical group.

Last year, Dr. Bockewitz was asked to fill a role as Medical Director for Ambulatory Informatics, working with the analytics and informatics teams to oversee the development and integration of new healthcare technologies and maintenance/optimization of electronic health records. In this role, he has improved workflow for providers and team members, increasing work efficiency as well as provider and team satisfaction.

For five years, Dr. Bockewitz has volunteered as a team physician for Stark County High School, providing on-site medical coverage at football games and helping to develop a concussion oversight program. When asked to help provide medical coverage for football games at Robert Morris University, he and the athletic trainer saw an opportunity to do even more by developing a weekly athletic training room. In addition to on-site coverage at games, they now treat sports-related issues through this training room.

Over the past six years, Dr. Bockewitz has worked with a range of medical students and residents, using his expertise in sports medicine to help develop the next generation of healthcare providers.
