In 2014, Turner joined the Family House Board of Directors and the following year he became chair of its annual golf outing. Under his leadership over the last five years, the agency has netted more than $75,000 from the event—proceeds that have provided more than 1,500 nights of stay for families who come to Peoria in the midst of a medical crisis.
Turner is also active with the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, serving first as a Chamber Ambassador, then on the Ambassador Program Executive Committee, and finally as president of the Ambassador program. He has also served on the Peoria Area Chamber Board of Directors and as president of his Business Network International (BNI) chapter. He has volunteered for Illinois CancerCare’s Golfin’ in the Wild event at Wildlife Prairie Park every year since 2014.
Earlier this year, Turner served on a committee welcoming the Gold Star Mission 500 when they stopped in Peoria on their five-day, 500-mile bicycle ride honoring 34 Illinois National Guardsmen who have lost their lives in active duty since 9/11. He created a welcome ceremony for the cyclists that included a motorcade escort into Peoria, speeches from public officials, and a performance by Navy Band Great Lakes, and was named an ambassador by the Gold Star Mission for his volunteer efforts.
